The Student Loan People—also known as the Kentucky Higher Education Student Loan Corporation—is an independent company begun by the Kentucky General Assembly in 1978. Since that time it has grown to be the nineteenth largest educational lending company in the United States, and has a full portfolio of federal loans, such as Stafford Loans and PLUS Loans, offered through the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFEL).
